What Netflix’s “Apple Cider Vinegar” Reminded Me as a Dietitian

I just finished watching Netflix’s new docuseries Apple Cider Vinegar, and as a dietitian, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I KNOW I’M LATE! Whatever <3

The series dives into why so many people seek out “natural” cures and wellness influencers—and while parts of it are shocking, others are heartbreakingly familiar. If you work in healthcare or wellness, or if you've ever felt dismissed by the system, you’ll recognize the emotional push and pull of the show. I have endometriosis and know the feeling all too well of doctors treating you the only way they know how, when you want your care team to also listen to you. As a practitioner, I understand that in some ways you have to be honest with people about their options and outcomes, no matter how difficult it might be to discuss it.
